People in the Middle East are stupid
That got your attention. The media is telling me that people in the Middle East are stupid. The constant media coverage of ISIS, Syria and Palestine is harrowing and helpless. What's presented by the media makes me think is that perhaps this is Darwinism at work. People are stupid, so they're dying.
The Arab League is huge. It has about 22 member states across the Middle-East and North Africa. These countries are large in population, land mass and money. Why aren't they uniting to stop ISIS and bring peace to the whole region? What's the point in the League existing if they're not working together.
Ataturk is still highly regarded by his people. They take to streets and have a national holiday in his honour. Why? Because he was progressive and modernised Turkey into a secular democracy, he changed Arabic into Roman lettering, he defined the borders and created Ankara. Why don't any countries in the Arab League have the spirit of Ataturk? Don't they want to be heralded as heroes who brought peace and prosperity to their region. What are the names of the Egypt/Iran/Iraq/Afghan/Jordan, etc. leaders? We don't know them because they're invisible. They're letting ISIS terrorise their people and destroy their heritage.
ISIS were threatening the destruction of Nimrud and Palmyra for days before they marched on the cities, where were the governments of these countries? Why didn't Iraq deploy their armies to protect Nimrud? Let's face it should it ever be safe for tourists, Nimrud is the only thing to see there - now it's gone, so there's no reason to visit.
They've stood by and let ISIS raze the whole region to the ground. Apart from the Palestinians who don't allow themselves to be oppressed by their aggressors (Israel), the people of the Middle-East just allowed themselves to be exploited, raped, murdered and terrorised. Where are the women? You can still fire an AK47 wearing a burka. Why aren't these women getting all Leila Khaled (pictured) about it - protecting themselves and their children, since the men are clearly running scared. If you're being attacked, you don't just sit by and let it happen, relying on the Kurds (who are hated) to save them.
Where are the thinkers, politicians, leaders, advocates, writers and revolutionaries to promote a positive message of Islam, restore democracy and destroy ISIS through hearts and minds.
Are these people so stupid that they're letting this happen to them?
Obama doesn't seem acknowledge the troubles, the UK government is only just considering action and the rest of world seems to be sitting by, doing nothing.
Is there something bigger in play? Are ISIS actually funded by Israel? They did show up when Israel was waging an unpopular war in Gaza. Are ISIS this year's Al-Qaeda? Machiavelli dictates that we need a bogeyman in order to keep people frightened therefore maintaining power. Are governments cashing in on ISIS in some way, Europe's stock markets seem pretty stable considering they're on the verge of their first Euro exit and economic collapse.
War is complicated. There are too many money, power, psychological and cultural factors to understand it fully. It's up to the people affected to rise up, take their destiny into their own hands and stop themselves from being exploited by everyone.
