Single review of The Infadels' Universe in Reverse

Known for chaotic live shows and a seminal first album, The Infadels unleash their second offering and it is a departure from their attitude packed, electro scuzz that pounded through every fibre of your being.

They have unplugged their electro synths in favour for the already saturated guitar sound. With no killer hooks or bass lines, they sound like a young indie pop band just starting out in the 90’s - a touch juvenile, dated and simplistic.

The stand out track was Play Blind which boasts a smidgen of a Jesus & Mary Chain-esque guitar hook in the background and Code 1 reminiscent of The Infadels we know and love. The album ended with How To Disappear, a high octane guitar track and leaves you cold and uninspired.

4/10
