Brexit: Who's watching the watcher?

As time goes on, the wheels seem to be falling off the fantasy of Brexit and yet people are still adamant about it being the "will of the people" and "taking back control". I'm not entirely sure why people have blind faith in something so uncertain, but then we've been believing in deities for eons. The reason I have a problem with is 4-fold:

1. I'm a Euroskeptic
It's not a level playing field and this seems to be exploited. I look at Greece, on its knees and having vast industries and anything of worth being bought up by German companies. Any bail out money goes towards buying arms they don't need instead of helping the poor or stimulating the economy. Its balls are in a vice and it's not fair for it to be treated the same as super-powers like UK, France and Germany or wealthy countries like all of northern Europe.

The system needs to be reformed and rethought, but abandoning our neighbours and closest allies is madness. We have a shared history and most countries all have centuries of empire and mature democracies. And it's a huge, sophisticated marketplace. We shouldn't be walking away, we should be a major player at the reformation table promoting the British values of liberty, morality and industry.

2. My tax bucks are being used to reinvent the wheel
So the EU withdrawal bill means all the MPs will dedicate all their time debating laws that are already in existence. How much is this costing the taxpayer? In a time when nurses haven't had a pay rise in 10 years, council tax is going up and yet public services are being closed down, how can we justify the monumental cost recreating, renegotiating and rebuilding stuff that was already there and working pretty well.

This just takes into account the cost of all the civil servants' time and contractors with much higher rates will be employed to push something through quickly, which all puts a strain on the public purse. But what about the resources needed, the paper printed, the flights, hotel rooms and dinners. How about the real cost, the drop in the pound, damage to the economy and the dilution of British power and influence worldwide. And for what, just to fulfil a nonbinding referendum result?

3. The referendum was bollocks
We're all stupid. We know bugger all about our diplomatic agreements, we have no clue what is in those cables or what the security services are working on that requires full transparency with our neighbours. None of us knows what trade deals we have in place and what's required to make them.

The simplistic view is we were alright when we ruled two-thirds of the world and we could exploit to our heart's content without any challenge. We don't have an empire anymore and we don't have anything to trade - unless it's arms dealing, which I'm 100% against.

Immigration seems to be the biggest smokescreen of the last couple of years. It's, of course, these eastern Europeans who are to blame for unemployment, hospital waiting lists, lack of social housing and struggling schools. But surely these come from bad management of the NHS and underpaying our nurses, this is because social housing stock has been sold off and developers prefer to build luxury flats, as they can sell them for more and if you're losing out on work to someone who doesn't have English as a first language or qualified in this country, then you're either shit or you're ripping off your customers.

And all this nonsense around sovereignty, we already opted out of the Euro, Schengen zone, immigration obligations and less than 10% of British laws came from the EU. Our MEPs, like Nigel Farage cost us too much money by never showing up for work and representing us in Brussels, so why the fuck do we continue to listen to him.

4. Who's watching the watcher
In papers and negotiations, the focus is on immigration, which everyone agrees is beneficial to our economy. It seems it's only Bernier who gives a shit about the lives of the Irish and protecting the peace.  And now we've got all this bullshit about MPs not being given a chance to debate and challenge new legislation (which isn't really needed), so no one is watching the watchers.

People are under this illusion that just because they vote every five years, this means we can hold MPs accountable. This is a fallacy, voters are in no more control of the government than citizens in North Korea. The government will continue to dismantle the NHS until it's sold to their friends, court fascist newspapers and play my gang's better than your gang and to hell with what's best for everyday people. How have any of us benefit from anything the government has done in the last 30 years?

It wasn't too bad before because experts who are trained in law, politics and negotiation, who are completely independent and impartial kept them in check to make sure we weren't being ripped off by multi-million-pound telecoms companies and our judges didn't become despotic. Now, we have no one to keep "the elite" in check.

Pass us the lube, because Brexit has handed the government a 50-foot, barbed wire dildo to fuck us with.
