Understanding the Black Panthers

I believe in everything the Black Panthers stand for. And, as film maker Stanley Nelson says, they're cool.

But I was under the impression they were 'extremists'. If you weren't with them, you were against them and they were ultimately racist, intimidating and violent. Just goes to show, if you glamorise, romanticise and brand anything, history will look kindly upon you.

Perhaps I need to see the film, The Black Panthers: The Vanguard to Revolution to understand.
